On Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, members of the Hurden Looker Elementary School National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) had a wonderful time visiting classrooms at A.P. Morris Early Childhood Center to read to our youngest learners! The Hurden Looker readers loved sharing stories, laughter, and their love of reading with the little ones, it was a joyful morning full of smiles and learning. Moments like this show how powerful it is when students lead and inspire others! Yesterday, March 2nd, 2026, Hurden Looker Elementary School (HLES) proudly kicked off Read Across America Week with a special visit from author Arayna Kemp! She delighted Ms. Hamilton’s 3rd grade class with a reading of her published book, Mya and the Magic Hummingbird, inspiring our students with her passion and love for storytelling. And a special shout-out to Mr. Anglin, our amazing Lead Custodian, for making this connection possible and helping bring this wonderful experience to our students. Hillside Shuttle bus routes and Hillside in-district special education routes will also operate on a two-hour delay. This is truly heartbreaking news, and. this loss is deeply felt throughout our school community.
