Summer Reading

Dear Parents,

Summer Reading assignments are now posted on the district and school websites under the “student” tab. They are also posted on your teacher’s class page. All assignments are due back to school by September 12, 2014.  It is important to have your child read over the summer to enhance reading skills. Sustained summer reading leads to higher graduation rates, positive self-esteem and confidence, not to mention it is just plain fun!

Have a safe and happy summer!

From the Principal's Desk:

Another year has come and gone. Many new initiatives were implemented this year. Teachers and students have accomplished much in the classroom. The academic and social growth of our students can be attributed to the whole school community of Hurden Looker School.

During the summer, fill your child’s day with valuable everyday lessons. Help him/her discover the value of language arts, mathematics and science through real-world experiences. Foster his/her creativity, potential and confidence.

Hurden Looker Mission Statement

At the Hurden Looker School, we believe that all children can learn. We strive to help each student reach his/her own academic, moral and social potential by setting high and reasonable expectations, and building skills which set the foundation for a lifetime of learning. By developing feelings of self worth and confidence in our students, we prepare them to become productive members of the community. We are committed to developing independent thinkers who will thrive in a rapidly changing and technologically-advanced society. Futhermore, we are a multicultural community which not only teaches tolerance, but also the importance of celebrating the differences that make us unique.

We invite parents/guardians and members of the Hillside community to be our partners in this initiative to provide a high quality educational program.
